FRESH NEW KICKS: D’Angelo and The Vanguard- Sugah Daddy
D’Angelo (and The Vanguard– do not forget the The Vanguard) managed to set Twitter aflame today (admittedly not that difficult a task- currently #ThePolarExpress is trending) when they confirmed that all the thirsty bitches could finally soothe their parched throats- Black Messiah, the onetime soul saviour’s 3rd album, would be debuted this week. To wet appetites further, D’Angelo has dropped the studio mix of Sugah Daddy, a woozy, scat number that will be showing up on ‘Want to come in for a coffee?’ playlists everywhere in 3… 2… 1…
It’s funky as hell, serving plenty of jazzy piano riffs and deep bass action; catch your reflection in the mirror listening to this and you’ll be sporting the face your Mum wears when Let’s Get It On is playing- the one that comes from a song hitting you slap bang in the groin. Mmmmhmmm.
